The Coastal Alliance is a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting and restoring marine ecosystems through science-driven advocacy, community engagement, and grassroots organizing. Our mission is to safeguard coastal environments, address pollution threats, and promote sustainable practices to ensure the long-term health of our oceans and marine life.
Protecting the Coast.
We protect marine ecosystems through science, community action, and bold advocacy to safeguard our coastlines and the life they sustain.
Defending the Ocean.
We unite science, grassroots organizing, and a deep love for the ocean to restore marine ecosystems and demand accountability.
Born from the Ash.
Our community came together to confront the environmental damage left behind from the Palisades and Eaton Fires. What began as independent testing and beach advocacy quickly evolved into a movement to defend the coast.
Become a part of our community and enjoy the benefits of community. Connect with like-minded individuals and participate in our events and activities.

We address contamination entering the ocean through storm drains.
Through the implementation of LA County’s Measure W—the Safe, Clean Water Program—we advocate for better use of stormwater funds to prioritize coastal protection, improve water quality, and prevent pollution from reaching our beaches and marine habitats.
Why We Exist
We build powerful alliances across science, policy, and community to restore coastal bays and protect biodiversity.
From wetlands to kelp forests, we work to heal damaged habitats, safeguard endangered species, and strengthen regional collaboration for long-term ecosystem resilience.
Our strength is in unity.
We’re building a coalition of scientists, advocates, community leaders, and everyday ocean defenders to protect California’s coast.
Together, we amplify local efforts, share resources, and drive collective action for lasting environmental change.
We want you to join us.
